As we enter the home stretch for Winter League, the early season leaders (Monstars) are dropping like a rock........the defending champs (GDB) face a do or die game against the number 1 team (G-Men)......The leaders of the pack are starting to pull away from the group....... Looks like a 3 team race for the final playoff spot between Durangos, Green Dot and ASC.
Leaders of the Pack
#1 G-Men (5-0) - G-Men replenished their backcourt and are off to a flawless start
#2 Self-Check (5-1) - Big comeback win against the Green Dot Ballers keeps them breathing down the neck of the G-Men ahead of their week 8 showdown.
#3 Squad (5-1) only loss is to #1 G-Men (67-65). Another win over the bottom of the pack, finishes out their easiest part of the schedule. Second half schedule includes games against SC, ASC and Durangos that will ultimately decide their fate.
Challengers
#4 Durangos (3-2) Always strong, but mixed returns at the moment....loss by 10 to Self Check, Beat ASC by 10. Loss this week to undefeated G-Men is nothing to be ashamed of, but falling behind the pack could be a problem as the face a brutal 3 games in six days stretch to end the season.
#5 ASC (4-3) 3 losses are to top 4 teams. Beat us by 10 without Eddie, only have Squad and Bullets remaining as teams that could beat them. Won a forfeit last week.
#6 GDB (3-3) - Stinging loss to Self-Check this week. Blew a 15 point first half lead and led by a point with 1 minute remaining, but 3-13 free throw shooting in the second half ultimately put them on the brink of missing the playoffs for the first time in franchise history
#7 Monstars (4-2) - 4 wins are all against the Bottom Tier teams. Starting to fall back down the standings as the competition ramps up.
Back of the Pack
#8 Bullets (3-3) - A chance to play spoilers throughout the rest of the season with games against the Squad, ASC and G-Men.
#8 Joy Boys (1-6) - The only team more disappointing this season than the Green Dot Ballers is the team they faced in the finals last year.
#9 Big Ballers (3-4) - three wins are to the three teams below them. 39 point blowout by Durangos, the latest in a string of poor showings against teams not in the bottom of the league.
#11 Kearney (0-6) - showdown with Generals in the final week of the season might be the only win on the schedule.
#12 Generals (0-5) - New team in the league finding out that the level of play in Rec division is still strong.
Games to watch this week -
2/26 GDB vs. G-Men - Streaking G-Men look to get revenge for numerous playoff defeats at the hands of the Ballers, by eliminating them from the playoff race this week.
Standings Key
Green means a win, Red means a loss, yellow is the game this week.
There are 10 games and 11 opponents for each team, so the column to the right is the team that is missed in the rotation.
