Week 6 Power Poll

Writer: Chris LarsonChris Larson

This week kicks off the second half of the season and the tight playoff race we expected is going to largely sort itself out over the next three weeks as G-Men, Self Check and GDB play each other in a round robin (weather permitting).

Mid-way Leaders

#1 G-Men (4-0) - piling up the quality wins over ASC, Squad and now Durangos

#2 Self-Check (4-1) - Only loss was an attendance loss to Bullets 68-65. Narrowly avoids a valiant upset bid last week by the Joy Boys 64-60

#3 Squad (4-1) only loss is to #1 G-Men (67-65). 20 point win over last place Generals finishes off a strong first half. Second half schedule includes games against SC, ASC and Durangos that will ultimately decide their fate.

Challengers

#4 Durangos (2-2) Always strong, but mixed returns at the moment....loss by 10 to Self Check, Beat ASC by 10. Loss this week to undefeated G-Men is nothing to be ashamed of, but falling behind the pack could be a problem as the face a brutal 3 games in six days stretch to end the season.

#5 ASC (3-3) 3 losses are to top 4 teams. Beat us by 10 without Eddie, only have Squad and Bullets remaining as teams that could beat them. Won a forfeit last week.

#6 GDB (3-2) - Starting to move back up the standings with a win against previously undefeated Monstars. Back to back big games against the top two teams this week and next. Need at least one win if not a sweep to keep their tiebreakers clean.

#7 Monstars (4-1) - 4 wins are all against the Bottom Tier teams. Fell short of completing a big rally against the Ballers. Another chance to prove themselves this week against the Squad.

Back of the Pack

#8 Joy Boys (1-5) - Playing for pride at this point. Chance to spoil G-Men undefeated season is about all that is left for them to be able to accomplish.

#9 Big Ballers (3-3) - three wins are to the three teams below them. Forfeit this past week against ASC

#10 Bullets (1-3) - Highly unpredictable team. Lost at buzzer to GDB, Dropped 68 on Self-Check in an upset victory, but suffered double digit losses to Joy Boys and Big Ballers

#11 Kearney (0-5) - much more was expected after consolidating from two teams to one this season. Could be dangerous if all of their players show up on a given night, but so far that has not been the case.

#12 Generals (0-4) - New team in the league finding out that the level of play in Rec division is still strong.

Games to watch this week -

2/19 Squad vs. Monstars - A pair of 4-1 teams. Monstars trying to prove good first half was not a fluke.

2/19 GDB vs. Self Check - Can GDB put itself back in the contender conversation?

Standings Key

Green means a win, Red means a loss, yellow is the game this week.

There are 10 games and 11 opponents for each team, so the column to the right is the team that is missed in the rotation.
