Week 10 Power Poll

Writer: Chris LarsonChris Larson

Final week of the regulars season and Tiebreaker Armageddon may have many ways to manifest itself, including the crazy 7 way tie for first (and seventh!)........Self-Check still tracking to #1....... Squad could end the week as the number 1 seed or out of the playoffs!....can GDB find a way to get into the playoffs to defend their title?....G-Men and Monsters will have a lot to say in whether they do or not.

Leaders of the Pack

#1 Self-Check (7-2) - Self-Check keeps the pressure on the rest of the league with a win over Big Ballers. A showdown with The Squad in their regular season finale is all that stands between them and the #1 seed.

Playoff chances - They have already clinched a spot based on their favorable tiebreaker situation, then only question is which seed will it be?

#2 G-Men (5-2) - Due to schedule quirks, the G-Men will finish the season having to play 3 games in 4 days. They will need to keep their concentration with potentially dangerous games against Bullets and Monstars still ahead.

Playoff chances - A sweep of the week could push them back to the #1 seed. Any trip ups, puts them in Tiebreaker Armageddon, and a disastrous week would have them on the outside looking in.

#3 Squad (6-2) Two huge games will determine their season this week. First up a first place showdown with Self-Check. Then a game vs. Durangos on the final day of the season that will have seeding and playoff qualifier implications written all over it.

Playoff chances - A sweep of the week could push them back to the #1 seed. Any trip ups, puts them in Tiebreaker Armageddon, and a disastrous week would have them on the outside looking in.

Challengers

#4 ASC (7-3) Kept their momentum and headed to a clubhouse with a strong 7-3 record for the season. Likely headed for some type of role in Tiebreaker Armageddon

Playoff chances - Win over GDB may loom large. Would prefer for the Monstars to stay out of the tiebreakers, as they did not play them this season and that could ultimately upset their math in multi-way tie-breakers.

#5 Monstars (6-2) - Monstars are staying in the race and will have a big say in how the playoffs turn out with games against Durangos and G-Men remaining.

Playoff Chances - Win 2 and they are would be a surprising playoff participant. A split punches their ticket to Tiebreaker Armageddon and dropping both will drop them out of the playoff hunt.

#6 (tie) Durangos (5-2) Will have a lot to say about who makes it and who doesn't (including themselves), as they try to go for the Summer/Winter double championships. To get there, they will need to navigate three tough teams in four days to finish the season with GDB, Monstars and Squad on the docket

Playoff Chances - Sweep the week and they are in (as well as posting one of the greatest weeks in league history). One loss away from Tiebreaker Armageddon and Two losses away from sitting things out.

#6 (tie) GDB (5-3) - De Facto playoff game vs. Durangos on Monday night, then wait back and see how the rest of the games pan out, prior to playing the penultimate game of the season on Thursday against currently winless Kearney.

Playoff Chances - The more teams the merrier, as far as GDB is concerned. Tiebreakers that includes ASC and Squad get painful if G-Men, Monstars and Durangos don't join the party. Bottom line is they need to win out and let the chips fall where they may.

Eliminated

#8 Joy Boys (4-6) - Is this the end of the road for the Joy Boys in the Alexandria League? Poor showings in Fall and Winter leave many to believe that this was their last run.

#9 Bullets (3-6) - One last chance to play the spoiler against G-Men on Monday night.

#10 Big Ballers (3-7) - A hopeful 3-2 start gave way to a disastrous 0-5 ending. 3 wins were against 3 bottom teams, so the first half record was not really a great indicator of quality in the first place.

#11 Kearney (0-8) - will they find their first win in the showdown with the Generals on Monday night. If not, GDB would be happy to send them off to the summer winless.

#12 Generals (0-8) - A series of blowouts will mark its season. Will they show any life against similarly winless Kearney. Closest game for Generals was a 19 point loss in week 7.

Games to watch this week -

3/18 Durangos vs. GDB - Rivalry continues with playoff spot on the line

3/19 Durangos vs. Monstars - One of the linchpins to Tiebreaker Armageddon

3/19 Self Check vs. Squad - Squad could push for #1 seed

3/21 Durangos vs. Squad - Squad could be playing for their playoff lives

3/21 Monstars vs. G-Men - The final game on the docket of the regular season will have the final impact on who advances and who does not. ASC, GDB among those that will likely be holding their breath.

Standings Key

Green means a win, Red means a loss, yellow is the game this week.

There are 10 games and 11 opponents for each team, so the column to the right is the team that is missed in the rotation.
