LJ Bowling sets the nets aflame in GDB win

Writer: Chris LarsonChris Larson

The Green Dot Ballers closed out the first half of the season behind a red-hot shooting performance from LJ Bowling. Bowling torched the Monstars for 23 points, including 4-5 from three point land in the first half, as he staked the Ballers to a 36-22 halftime lead. Once again, GDB was in a sharing mood with 16 of their 18 field goals coming with an assist. The previously undefeated Monstars made a big push midway through the second half, with a 22-8 run, that cut a sixteen point lead down to just 2 points. However, a pair of Ed Reddick free throws, followed by a clutch basket by Mike Reamy kept the Monstars at bay.

The Ballers now find themselves as one of the hottest teams in the league, going into the second half of the season, having won three out of four. Big tests loom in the next two weeks against the top two teams in the league, Self Check (3-1) and G-Men (3-0). Very soon we will know if the Ballers title defense is still alive or in jeopardy.
