The summer session frequently comes down to player availability that can often translate to "attendance losses." The Ballers were able to combine a relatively deep roster of contributors with a consistent core of players to capture some gritty victories along the way. That recipe would be tested once again in the summer semis with Will Harris missing the entire season and Chris Harris not available once again. The Ballers were able to still secure the bye straight to the semis even with minimal games from the Harris's over the course of the summer. Unfortunately for the GDB franchise, the absence of yet one more starter, Captain Chris Larson, was one more absence that proved crucial in a 61-52 loss to the LA Stars.
The Stars feature a young, but deep and motivated roster that was chomping at the bit to get another shot at the Ballers after starting the summer off getting embarrassed by the league stalwarts. They channeled that energy into a 10 point cushion that prevailed for most of the game. A late surge by the Ballers was turned back and the Stars moved on the the finals to face the G-Men.
The Ballers will look to the fall session to try and keep their streak of at least one championship per year going, having secured titles in 2016, 2017 and 2018, but now with just one last shot in 2019.
